Orbis Linguarum (Ezikov svyat) and its academic editors are committed to fair and professional dealing in every aspect of the publishing process. We aim to publish original texts valuable to the intellectual community that will make a clear contribution to current debate in humanities.
Orbis Linguarum uses Turnitin's product iThenticate to screen and check plagiarism. Read more at https://www.ithenticate.com/. Each manuscript undergoes screening with this product before being sent for peer review.
Orbis Linguarum (Ezikov Svyat) endorses and behaves in accordance with the codes of conduct and international standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available free of charge at http://publicationethics.org/. Relevant documents include Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Core Practices.
The following edited extracts from COPE documents state the key considerations for editors, authors and reviewers.
Editors (Kleinert and Wager 2011):
- should make fair and unbiased decisions independent of commercial considerations, and should ensure a fair and appropriate peer review process;
- should adopt editorial policies that encourage maximum transparency and complete, honest reporting;
- should guard the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct;
- should have appropriate policies in place for handling editorial conflicts of interest.
Authors (Wager and Kleinert 2011):
- should adhere to the Submission Guidelines and make sure that their materials have not been published anywhere else;
- should ensure that they submit entirely original works. It is the author’s duty to avoid plagiarism in all its forms. The submitted materials are checked with an anti-plagiarism software;
- should submit papers that have been conducted in an ethical and responsible manner and that comply with all relevant legislation;
- should present their results clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation;
- should endeavour to describe their methods clearly and unambiguously so that their findings can be confirmed by others;
- should take responsibility for the submitted work/s, as well as their layout;
- should ensure that the authorship (as represented in the byline for the paper) accurately reflects the individuals’ contributions to the work and its reporting;
- should disclose relevant funding sources and any existing or potential conflicts of interest.
After an official confirmation regarding their publication has been received by the author/s, they must fill the Publication Agreement below:
Reviewers:
- should demonstrate professional responsibility;
- should declare potential competing, or conflicting, interests;
- should prepare the review within a reasonable time frame (one month);
- should state honestly and clearly the strengths and weaknesses of the peer-reviewed text.
The reviewers should complete the following review form:
More about the ethical guidelines for peer reviewers may be seen in COPE ETHICAL GUIDELINES FOR PEER REVIEWERS. The review process steps are presented here.
